Fields End Water Caravan Park: Review

Caravan Adventuring - Fields End Water Caravan Park

We recently spent some time exploring the flat landscapes of Cambridgeshire. During our trip, we stayed at a very special place called Fields End Water Caravan Park. This adults-only site sits deep in the heart of the Fens. It offers a unique atmosphere that felt incredibly calm from the moment we arrived. We wanted a relaxing break, and this location delivered exactly that. Because we love sharing our travels, we decided to write this review. We hope it helps you plan your next caravan adventure. Exploring the Cambridgeshire Fens

We recently spent a few days exploring this part of Cambridgeshire, and it suited us straight away. The Fens feel wide, open, and wonderfully calm. Because the roads run so flat and straight, the drive in felt easy with the caravan behind us. Some stretches narrowed a little, however, nothing caused us any stress. Once we saw the signs for Fields End, the final approach felt simple and well marked.

When we arrived, the welcome set the tone for the whole stay. Dave was brilliant from the moment we checked in. He gave us clear directions, pointed out the key areas, and made everything feel relaxed. Therefore, we settled in quickly and started enjoying the site almost at once. That kind of welcome always matters, especially after a towing day.

The setting itself feels peaceful and well cared for. Fishing lakes sit around the park, and that gives the whole place a calm rhythm. We enjoyed wandering around Fields End Water Caravan Park in the evening because the grounds looked so tidy. The grass was neat, the hedges were trimmed, and the whole site felt looked after. If you like a quiet break, this spot gets a lot right.

There is also plenty to see nearby if you want to get out in the car. We spent time exploring local villages, and we loved the open Fenland scenery. Ely is also within easy reach, so it makes a great day out. Because the land is so flat, the area also suits cycling and gentle walks. You can see more of our touring photos in the Gallery.

Pitch Layout and Our View at Fields End Water Caravan Park

Our pitch landed somewhere in the middle for us. The ground was level and firm, so setting up the caravan felt easy. However, the main downside sat right beside us. A tall wooden fence ran along the edge of our pitch, and that blocked the view from our awning. Because of that, we looked at timber rather than open scenery for most of our stay.

That said, we do need to be fair here. When we walked around Fields End Water Caravan Park, we noticed that most other pitches looked much nicer than ours. Many had better views across the water or out towards the open site. Therefore, we think we were just a little unlucky with our exact spot. The pitch itself worked well, but the fenced view held it back. For us, that made it a solid 7/10 rather than something more special.

Comparing the Site Facilities

The facilities here were spotless every single time we used them, and that deserves real credit. Showers, toilets, and shared areas all looked very well maintained. Because cleanliness matters so much on a caravan break, this part of the site impressed us. We never once felt let down by the standard of upkeep.

However, we did notice one thing. While everything was clean and practical, the washrooms lacked the luxury feel of Concierge Camping, Old Oaks, or Hartington Hills. Those sites feel a little more boutique. In contrast, Fields End Water feels more traditional in style. That is not a deal breaker at all, because the standard is still high. It just means the facilities feel more functional than indulgent.

The site shop also helped during our stay, as it covered the basics well. Consequently, we never felt short of essentials. Everything worked as it should, and the whole place felt easy to use.

The Bar and Onsite Dining

The bar and cafe added a lot to our stay because it is always nice to have food and drinks on site. We liked the atmosphere in there, and it gave the park a social side without losing the peaceful feel outside. Dave had already pointed us in the right direction, so we knew it was worth trying.

Food-wise, our experience was positive overall. We enjoyed having the option to stay on site in the evening rather than heading back out in the car. Therefore, it made the stay feel more relaxed. The staff were friendly, and the space felt welcoming. For us, that convenience added real value to the whole break.
