The Big One: Our Guide to the 2025 NEC Motorhome & Caravan Show

The NEC entrance during the Motorhome and Caravan Show 2025

If you’re part of the UK caravanning community, you know there’s one date on the calendar that stands head and shoulders above the rest: the October show at the NEC Birmingham. For us at Caravan Adventuring, the 2025 Motorhome & Caravan Show (held from October 14–19) was nothing short of spectacular. It’s the "Big One" for a reason: bringing together over 350 exhibitors and 1,000 brand-new leisure vehicles under one massive roof.

Whether you were there to browse the latest 2026 models, pick up some new gear, or just soak in the atmosphere with fellow enthusiasts, the 2025 show delivered in spades. Now that the dust has settled, we wanted to take a deep dive into the highlights, the celebrities we spotted, and the practical tips that made the difference for those navigating the eleven halls of the NEC.

A First Look: The 2026 Model Previews

One of the biggest draws of the October NEC show is always the sneak peek at next year’s ranges. This year, the focus was firmly on the 2026 models, and the innovations did not disappoint.

The Star of the Stand: Coachman Lusso IV

Naturally, we spent a good chunk of time at the Coachman stand (Hall 19, Stand 19.20). The headline news for 2026 was the debut of the Lusso IV. This isn't just a minor refresh; it’s a significant layout shift for the Lusso range.

For the first time, Coachman has moved away from the end-washroom design in the Lusso. Instead, the Lusso IV features a central washroom paired with a transverse rear island bed. This creates three distinct living zones, making the caravan feel more like a boutique apartment than a mobile home. Measuring in at 7.9m long and a full 8ft wide (2.44m), it is a beast of a caravan with an MTPLM of 2035kg. At a price point around £54,240, it sits at the top end of the market, but the luxury is undeniable: from the L-shaped front lounge to the 5G Wi-Fi readiness and the 120-watt solar panel.

Innovation Across the Board

It wasn't just Coachman making waves. We saw some incredible work from other manufacturers too. Swift continued to push the envelope with their luxury offerings, which reminded us of our time reviewing the Swift Elegance Grande.

Frankia also caught our eye with their NEXT Cruiser 7.6L, which features a stunning panoramic rear bedroom window. It’s clear that 2026 is going to be the year of "the view," with manufacturers doing everything they can to bring the outside in.

Celebrity Guests and the Inspiration Theatre

The NEC isn't just about looking at metal and wood; it's about the lifestyle. The Inspiration Theatre was the place to be for stories that make you want to hitch up and head for the horizon.

Ben Fogle sharing his travel adventures at the Inspiration Theatre

We were lucky enough to catch two of the show’s biggest stars:

  • Susan Calman (Thursday, Oct 16): The much-loved comedian and presenter brought her trademark wit to the stage, sharing hilarious and heartwarming tales from her own campervan adventures. Her passion for the freedom of the road is infectious.
  • Ben Fogle (Friday, Oct 17): Ben spoke about his global travels and how nature and the outdoors serve as a constant source of inspiration. His sessions were packed, proving that even the most seasoned adventurers find something special in the caravanning community.

The theatre also hosted technical talks, which are invaluable if you're looking into things like lithium battery upgrades or the latest in solar technology.

Practical Tips: Surviving the NEC

If you’ve never been to the October show, it’s hard to describe the scale. It spans halls 6 through 12 and 17 through 20. If you’re planning your visit for next time, here are our top tips based on our 2025 experience:

1. The Shoe Factor

We cannot stress this enough: wear your most comfortable walking shoes. You will easily clock up 10,000 to 15,000 steps just wandering between the halls. The floor is hard, and your feet will feel it by day’s end.

2. Take Your Measurements

If you’re shopping for a new caravan or even just an awning, take the measurements of your current setup (and your driveway!) before you leave home. It’s very easy to fall in love with an 8ft wide caravan at the show, only to realize it won't fit through your gate when you get home!

3. Book Your Sessions Early

The show offers free motorhome manoeuvring and towing experiences with expert instructors. These sessions are incredibly popular and usually book up within minutes of the show opening each day. If you want to brush up on your skills, make the booking desk your very first stop.

4. Interior Inspiration

While the exteriors are what catch your eye from across the hall, the real magic is inside. Manufacturers are moving towards much more "home-like" interiors: think matte finishes, smart lighting, and integrated entertainment systems.

We noticed a massive shift towards induction hobs and large tower fridges in the 2026 models, reflecting how people are using their caravans for longer, more comfortable stays.

Why the October Show Matters

The 2025 NEC show was a reminder of why we love this community. Beyond the shiny new models like the Lusso IV and the celebrity speakers, it’s the chance to talk to people who share the same love for the open road. From the small independent accessory stalls to the massive manufacturer displays, there is a sense of shared adventure that you just don't get anywhere else.

If you’re feeling inspired to get out there yourself after reading about the latest models, why not check out some of our campsite reviews? Whether you’re staying in a brand-new 2026 motorhome or a trusty veteran caravan, there’s nothing like finding that perfect pitch to call home for a few days.

The 2025 show might be over, but the adventures it has inspired are just beginning. We’ll see you on the road!
