Luxury Camping: Our First Trip to Concierge Camping in West Sussex

If you’ve been following our journey for a while over at Caravan Adventuring, you’ll know that we’ve seen our fair share of campsites across the UK and Europe. From the rugged coastlines of Scotland to the sun-drenched valleys of France, our Coachman Acadia 565 has been our faithful home on wheels. But last year, over the late May bank holiday, we decided to try something a little different. We’d heard whispers of a site in West Sussex that wasn’t just a "good" campsite, but a destination that rivalled the world’s best boutique hotels.

Enter Concierge Camping.

Located near Chichester, this multi-award-winning site has gained a reputation for being one of the best caravan sites in the UK. We’d seen the photos, read the reviews, and finally decided it was time to hitch up the Land Rover and see if the reality lived up to the hype. Spoilers: it didn’t just live up to it; it blew our expectations out of the water.

Arriving in Style: The Concierge Experience

When you pull into Concierge Camping, you immediately realize this isn't your average grass-and-gravel setup. The attention to detail is staggering. The pitches are immaculate: wide, level, and separated by beautifully maintained hedges that offer a real sense of privacy. For us, setting up the Coachman Acadia 565 was a breeze. Having a fully serviced pitch with high-speed Wi-Fi, electricity, and water right there makes the "admin" side of caravanning feel like less of a chore and more of a luxury experience.

We’ve stayed at plenty of locations featured in our campsite reviews UK section, but the atmosphere here felt special from the moment we unhitched. There’s a quiet sophistication to the place, but without any of the stuffiness you might expect from a "luxury" label. It’s friendly, welcoming, and clearly designed by people who love the Great Outdoors as much as we do.

Better Than a 5-Star Hotel? The Bathrooms

Now, let’s talk about the one thing every caravanner cares about: the facilities. Usually, when we review a site, we’re looking for cleanliness and a decent water pressure. At Concierge Camping, "decent" is an insult.

The showers and bathrooms here are, quite frankly, of a higher luxury than most 5-star hotels I’ve stayed in. We’re talking about individual private suites that feel like a high-end spa. Imagine marble-effect tiling, premium fixtures, rainfall showerheads that actually have power, and enough space to change without bumping your elbows on the walls.

Everything is kept in pristine condition. There’s a level of cleanliness here that is genuinely hard to find elsewhere. It’s the kind of place where you don't mind lingering in the shower a little longer than usual because the environment is just so relaxing. If you’re someone who usually avoids campsite blocks in favor of your caravan’s own shower, Concierge Camping will change your mind.

The Hub of the Site: Concierge Bar

One of the stand-out features of our May bank holiday visit was Concierge Bar. This area serves as the social heart of the campsite. It features a wonderful on-site bar that is the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring the West Sussex countryside.

What we loved most was the outdoor seating area. It’s incredibly well-thought-out, with heat lamps at each table to ensure that even if the British evening air gets a bit nippy, you can stay cozy and enjoy your drinks. It’s dog-friendly, too, which meant our four-legged companions didn't have to miss out on the fun. The vibe is laid-back and social: the kind of place where you’ll find yourself chatting with fellow travelers about their own caravan setups or sharing tips on the best local walks.

A Culinary Surprise: Japanese Street Food and Sourdough Pizza

Usually, "campsite food" means a burger van or a basic shop. Not here. During our stay, we were treated to some of the best food we’ve had on any trip: campsite or otherwise.

Concierge Camping hosts a food vendor called NOTSO, and their Japanese street food is absolutely fantastic. We’re talking about "twisted" Asian flavors that you simply wouldn't expect to find in a West Sussex field. We tucked into crispy bao buns, delicious sushi rolls, and a katsu curry that was to die for. The quality was top-notch, and the convenience of being able to order online and pick it up to eat at the bar (or take back to the awning of the Acadia) was a game-changer.

If Japanese food isn't your thing, don't worry. They also serve incredible sourdough pizzas. There’s something about a wood-fired pizza with that perfect, bubbly crust that just tastes better when you’re outdoors. Whether you’re sitting in the glow of the heat lamps at the bar or enjoying a quiet night in your caravan, the food here is a highlight of the stay.

Live Music and Bank Holiday Vibes

Because it was a bank holiday weekend, the atmosphere was electric. One of the highlights was the live music hosted at Concierge Bar. Sitting there with a cold drink, listening to a live acoustic set as the sun began to set over the site, was the definition of "the good life."

The music wasn't intrusive; it was the perfect background track to a relaxing weekend. It really elevated the experience from a standard camping trip to a mini-festival vibe. It’s clear that the team at Concierge Camping puts a lot of effort into curation: everything from the playlist to the food vendors feels carefully chosen to ensure guests have the best possible time.

Exploring Beyond the Campsite

One of the best things about staying at Concierge Camping is how easy it is to head out and explore some of the highlights of West Sussex without spending hours in the car. If you fancy a break from relaxing on site, there are a couple of nearby spots that are well worth adding to your plans.

A trip into Chichester is an easy one, and Chichester Cathedral is definitely worth making time for. With over 900 years of history behind it, it’s one of those places that instantly makes you slow down and take it all in. The architecture is seriously impressive, and it has the unique claim of being the only medieval cathedral visible from the coast. Whether you’re into history or just enjoy wandering around beautiful old buildings, it’s the sort of place that makes for a really enjoyable few hours.

Another nearby favourite is Bosham Quay, often nicknamed the "Venice of England", and it’s easy to see why once you arrive. The waterfront is absolutely lovely, with boats bobbing in the harbour, pretty cottages, and that classic village feel that makes you want to slow right down. It’s also home to the historic Holy Trinity Church, which adds even more character to the whole setting. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for a gentle wander, a few photos, and maybe just sitting for a bit and soaking it all in.

Final Thoughts: Is it the Best in the UK?

It’s easy to see why Concierge Camping consistently tops the lists of the best caravan sites in the UK. For us, it was the perfect blend of luxury and the traditional caravanning spirit. You get the freedom and community of a campsite, but with the amenities and service of a high-end resort.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a premium base to explore the South Downs and Chichester, we can’t recommend this place enough. It’s honest, high-quality, and worth every penny of the booking fee.
