We had looked forward to this October trip for weeks. Keep the plan simple. Tow the caravan to Wolverley. Use it as a base for the NEC Show. Then return each evening to somewhere calm. Wolverley Camping and Caravanning Club Site suited that plan straight away. Moreover, the village setting slowed the pace before we had even checked in.
The drive to Wolverley felt easy, which always helps when towing. We arrived without fuss, checked in fast, and headed to our pitch. Staff welcomed us with a smile, and the whole arrival felt smooth. Once we had set up our home on wheels, the trip properly began.
Wolverley Camping and Caravanning Club Site Arrival and First Impressions
Step onto site and notice the calm straight away. That peaceful feel was exactly what we wanted. The hardstanding pitch suited the season well. We needed a little levelling, but that took minutes. After that, we could put the kettle on and settle in.
The site felt spacious, and it never seemed crowded. Mature trees gave the place real character. Meanwhile, the autumn colours added even more warmth. By evening, the whole site felt still and quiet. That slower pace contrasted perfectly with the busy NEC day ahead.
Using Wolverley as a Base for the NEC Show

Once there, the day flew by. There was loads to see, and the halls stayed busy. We spent hours walking, browsing, and chatting. It was lively, noisy, and well worth the trip. Quiet Evenings at Wolverley Camping Caravanning Site After the NEC Show
Use the quieter hours to enjoy the area around Wolverley. Take a short walk through the village or near the canal. That slower pace balanced the trip nicely. Instead of only sleeping on site, we got to enjoy the setting too.
The facilities stayed clean, practical, and easy to use during our stay. That mattered more than anything fancy. We spent most days out, so we wanted a base that worked without effort. In the evening, nearby village pubs gave us an easy option for food and drinks before we headed back to the caravan.
Exploring the Area Around Wolverley
Keep the NEC Show as the main event, but make time for the places nearby too. That was one of the best parts of staying here. Wolverley gave us a calm base, yet there was plenty within easy reach.
If you want a big family day out, head to West Midlands Safari Park. It sits over in Bewdley and makes an easy trip from site. You can drive through the safari, see the animals up close, and turn it into a full day.
For something slower, try the Severn Valley Railway. Start in Kidderminster and step aboard a heritage steam train. The journey feels like a proper throwback. Moreover, it adds a bit of classic railway charm to the trip.
If you fancy fresh air and a bit of history, visit Kinver Edge and the Rock Houses. The walks there feel scenic and different. The rock houses also give you something unusual to explore. So if you want a break from the crowds, this is a strong option.
Back in the village, stop at The Lock at Wolverley. It works well for a relaxed waterside meal after a busy day. We always like having an easy food option close to the caravan, and this spot fits that nicely.
For something more playful, try Mini Pro Golf Parks. It is right in the village, which makes it a handy local activity. If you are travelling with family, it gives you an easy way to fill a free hour or two.
It is also worth making time for Bewdley. The town feels charming, compact, and easy to enjoy. Walk by the river, browse the shops, and slow the pace right down. Meanwhile, it makes a great contrast to a full day at the NEC.
That mix is what made this trip work so well. Spend one day at the show. Spend another exploring nearby gems. Then return to the caravan and enjoy the peace again.
