Newlands Holiday Park: Review

Touring pitches and facilities at Newlands Holiday Park in Charmouth

Newlands Holiday Park is located in Charmouth, Dorset, a popular destination for visitors exploring the Jurassic Coast and the surrounding area. The site offers a range of facilities and is well positioned for enjoying the local coastline and attractions.

While there were positive aspects to our stay, particularly the bar and restaurant, several issues impacted our overall experience and prevented the site from achieving a higher score.

Location

Newlands Holiday Park benefits from being located close to Charmouth and the stunning Jurassic Coast.

The area provides plenty of opportunities for coastal walks, beach visits and exploring the local attractions that make Dorset such a popular holiday destination.

While the location is certainly convenient, it didn’t quite stand out enough to score higher when compared with some of the stronger coastal sites we have reviewed.

Facilities

The facilities at Newlands Holiday Park were generally acceptable, although they felt somewhat dated during our stay.

The shower blocks and communal facilities were clean, which was positive, but they are clearly in need of modernisation. While everything functioned as expected, the overall presentation felt tired compared with many modern touring sites.

One area that impressed us was the on-site bar and restaurant. We found both to be enjoyable and they provided a welcome place to relax during our stay.

Cleanliness

Cleanliness across the site was generally good.

The facilities were maintained to a reasonable standard and we did not encounter any major cleanliness concerns during our visit.

Although the site was clean overall, the dated appearance of some facilities occasionally gave the impression that standards were lower than they actually were.

Pitch Quality

Pitch quality was by far the weakest part of our experience at Newlands Holiday Park.

Unfortunately, our booking did not go as planned and we did not receive the pitch we had originally paid for. After a booking issue on the site’s side, we were allocated a pitch that fell well below our expectations.

This had a significant impact on our stay and ultimately resulted in the lowest score of the review. While every site can occasionally experience booking issues, we felt the situation could have been handled much better.

Value for Money

Newlands Holiday Park offers reasonable value for money in some areas, particularly given its location and facilities.

However, the booking problems and disappointment with the pitch allocated to us made it difficult to feel we received the experience we had paid for.

Had we received the pitch we originally booked, this category may well have scored higher.

Final Verdict

Newlands Holiday Park has some positives, particularly its location near the Jurassic Coast, its clean facilities and its enjoyable bar and restaurant.

However, our stay was significantly impacted by a booking issue which resulted in us not receiving the pitch we had paid for. Unfortunately, we also found the reception experience disappointing, with staff appearing unhelpful when attempting to resolve the problem.

While the facilities were generally clean, they felt dated and would benefit from investment and modernisation. Combined with the issues surrounding our pitch allocation, this prevented the site from achieving a stronger score.

There is certainly potential here, particularly given the location and some of the facilities available, but improvements to customer service, pitch allocation and facility upgrades would greatly improve the overall visitor experience.
