If you’re looking for a premium inflatable caravan air awning, the Telta SkyLink 400 is likely to be high on your shortlist. In this Telta SkyLink 400 review, we share our experience after owning and using the awning extensively on multiple touring trips alongside the optional front and side panels, giving us plenty of opportunity to discover both its strengths and the few areas where it could be improved.

This review is based entirely on our own real-world experiences rather than a quick demonstration or showroom inspection. We’ve used it in sunshine, heavy rain and windy coastal conditions, allowing us to provide an honest assessment of how it performs over time.

Verdict: Outstanding

Caravan Adventuring Verdict

The Telta SkyLink 400 has become one of our favourite pieces of touring equipment. It’s exceptionally well made, performs brilliantly in poor weather and creates a spacious, comfortable living area that genuinely enhances every trip. The optional front and side panels are well worth the investment and make an already excellent awning even more versatile. Our only criticism is the integrated storage bag, which hangs over part of the caravan door and awning light while the awning is pitched. It’s a minor design compromise on an otherwise outstanding product.

Review Summary

From the moment you unpack the SkyLink 400, it feels like a premium product. The fabric is noticeably heavier than many alternatives, the stitching is first class and every zip, buckle and fitting feels reassuringly robust.

Despite its generous size, pitching is straightforward thanks to the inflatable air frame and integrated storage bag, allowing the awning to roll directly from the awning rail before inflation. Once erected, it provides a bright, spacious living area that genuinely feels like an extension of the caravan.

We’ve also invested in the optional front and side panels, which transform the awning into a fully enclosed room. They match the quality of the main awning perfectly and have become an essential part of our setup for longer holidays and poor weather.

After extensive use, we’ve struggled to find genuine faults. The only recurring issue is the integrated storage bag. Because it remains attached to the awning rail while the awning is erected, the empty bag hangs over part of the caravan door and partially covers the awning light. It doesn’t affect the awning’s performance or usability, but we’d have preferred a neater solution.

Despite its generous size, the SkyLink 400 is quick and straightforward to pitch thanks to its inflatable design and integrated storage bag. The only point deducted is because the storage bag hangs over part of the caravan door and awning light while the awning is in use.

Our Testing

Every product review on Caravan Adventuring is based on genuine ownership and real-world touring rather than a quick first impression.

We’ve used the Telta SkyLink 400 on numerous trips in a wide variety of conditions, including warm summer weekends, extended holidays, prolonged heavy rain and exposed coastal pitches where strong winds can quickly expose weaknesses in an awning.

Throughout our testing, the SkyLink 400 has consistently impressed us. Once inflated, it feels extremely rigid and secure, remaining stable even when the weather becomes challenging. We’ve never had concerns about water ingress, excessive movement or overall stability.

The optional front and side panels have become an important part of our setup. They fit perfectly, are manufactured to the same excellent standard as the main awning and transform the living space into a fully enclosed room that’s ideal during poor weather or for creating additional privacy.

Our only recurring criticism is the integrated storage bag. As it remains attached to the awning rail while the awning is in use, the empty bag hangs over part of the caravan door and partially obscures the awning light. It’s a very minor annoyance on an otherwise exceptional awning.

Final Verdict

The Telta SkyLink 400 is one of the best inflatable caravan air awnings we’ve owned. It combines outstanding build quality, premium materials, impressive weather performance and exceptional comfort into a package that’s easy to recommend.

The optional front and side panels make an already superb awning even better, adding flexibility for longer holidays and touring in unpredictable weather.

Although we’d like to see the integrated storage bag redesigned, it’s a small criticism that doesn’t detract from the overall ownership experience.

If you’re looking for a premium caravan air awning and are prepared to invest in quality, the Telta SkyLink 400 deserves to be at the very top of your shortlist.
